Use Case
Modern Manufacturing Scales Training
Backed by Ontario’s Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training, and Skills Development, CAMM’s TechBridge program addresses the skills gap in mold making through a blended learning approach that combines online learning, career awareness, and immersive VR training.
Designing the curriculum in partnership with Work Based Learning Consortium (WBLC) and Virtualware, the program delivers both theoretical and hands-on training in areas such as shop safety, measurement, CAD, and CNC machining.
Client

- Education
Using the enterprise XR platform VIROO, learners can access scalable, multi-user XR experiences that reinforce classroom and e-learning content with practical, risk-free skills development.
The hybrid model improves engagement, accelerates learning, and helps mold makers build a stronger pipeline of skilled apprentices and operators for Ontario’s advanced manufacturing sector.
TechBridge’s approach to modern skills development
TechBridge's approach combines the strengths of e-learning and immersive XR training to create a blended learning experience that connects theory with hands-on practice. Learners first build foundational knowledge through online modules and then reinforce those concepts in realistic VR simulations covering areas such as shop safety, measurement, CAD, and CNC machining.
This approach allows participants to safely practice tasks, make mistakes without consequences, receive immediate feedback, and gain experience in realistic workplace environments before entering the shop floor.
Outcomes
- 4.8/5 overall learner satisfaction
- 4.7/5 confidence in applying skills learned
- 4.9/5 effectiveness rating compared to traditional learning methods
- 85% of participants wanted additional XR practice
VIROO enables CAMM to deploy and scale immersive training programs efficiently across locations. Its multi-user and centralized management capabilities help deliver consistent learning experiences while supporting the long-term growth of the initiative.
Using the enterprise XR infrastructure VIROO, CAMM can deliver consistent, repeatable, and multi-user training experiences across locations, making high-quality workforce development more accessible to apprentice groups. As a result, TechBridge can expand training capacity, accelerate skills development, and create a sustainable pipeline of skilled talent for the mold-making and advanced manufacturing sectors.
In its first phase, the program demonstrated significant progress across Ontario, validating the effectiveness of its blended learning approach. Building on these results, CAMM is pursuing o further expand, refine, and scale the initiative in 2026-2027.
"The most miningful impact is the number of people that we have been able to train and engage through the virtual reality component".
Nicole Vlanich, Executive Director, CAMM
