WORLD’S FIRST: Enterprise XR at scale
Multi-Device, Multi-Cloud Collaboration Demonstrated. Another groundbreaking achievement from the team at Virtualware, along with our partners
On October 21, 2025, teams from Virtualware, Ohio University, TransformXD, Magicgate, and others participated in a joint industry–university marketing study. Furthermore, this showcase demonstrated what we confidently call a world’s first in Enterprise XR at scale
What makes this a world´s first ?
1️⃣ Multi-Device XR Collaboration
Participants connected using HTC VIVE, Pico 4 Enterprise, Meta Quest 3, laptops, and desktops. Additionally, all devices interacted in one shared immersive environment from 6 physical locations.
2️⃣ Multiple OEM Location-Based Entertainment Platforms
Both HTC Vive and Pico XR free-roam systems operated concurrently. Moreover, they achieved 1:1-scale tracking across locations through multiple cloud-based content delivery systems.
3️⃣ Multi-Cloud, Multi-Region Deployment
Three independent cloud instances operated in Orlando (FL), Athens (OH), and Bilbao (Spain). Each hosted their own content and users. Meanwhile, they collaborated seamlessly in a connected XR session. Remote users from Detroit, Toronto, and Madrid joined sessions on the various clouds.
4️⃣ Microsoft Teams Integration
MS Teams was used both outside and inside XR. Specifically, it enabled communication, screen sharing, and launching VIROO sessions directly from shared links. Consequently, this bridged traditional and immersive collaboration.
5️⃣ Direct BIM-to-XR Workflow (No Development Required)
Revit → Unity → VIROO integration used templates and scripts. Therefore, it enabled real-time 3D design collaboration across XR and standard computers. Notably, this required no exporting, re-authoring, or specialized development.
Technology stack: Unity Industry, Unity Asset Transformation, Unity Digital Asset Manager, and VIROO platform.
6️⃣ Industrial Digital Twin Collaboration
Participants engaged with real PLC and robotic system emulations from anywhere, on any device. As a result, this demonstrated virtual testing and commissioning of industrial automation systems.
